THE LIGHT Homeschool Enrichment Program

"You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others." Matthew 5:14, 16A lighthouse shines its beacon of hope and light into the darkness and never dims from rough waters, the darkest of nights or impending danger. Their light serves as a navigational aid when fog envelops coastlines, storms rage at sea and winds throw ships off course. Just as the light cast from a lighthouse offers hope for safe passage, Jesus is the hope that anchors our soul and illuminates our lives. He is the firm foundation that calms our storm, stills our raging sea, and quiets our fears so that we may resist all that the world casts against us.
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Hebrews 6:19
Who We Are
The Light is a one-of-a-kind, Christ-centered enrichment program for grades 1-8 that meets for two hours each week to provide an opportunity to learn, serve, grow and build life-long friendships using a 2-part approach: Deep investment into the heart of who we are with in-class instruction and then taking those skills into the community with field trips, service projects and social functions.
Mission & Goal
Our mission is to provide homeschooling and traditional schooling families with a safe space where children find confidence to be themselves, cultivate a heart for service and become individuals of integrity. Our goal is to glorify God, support like-minded families, and provide a community for children to grow and thrive with a strong sense of themselves and those around them.
About Us
The Light meets at Palmetto Proper in downtown Travelers Rest and serves the greater Greenville, SC area. Class is taught by our teachers and follows a curriculum designed by The Light to include bible study, book club, character building, life skills, friendships and various extra curricular activities. We are a drop-off program and parents are not required to volunteer. Field trips and group service projects are scheduled routinely in addition to class time.
We are joining hands with families to help children understand the world through a lense of honorable character in a way that sets them up to become kind, self-aware individuals with positive values that understand the importance of respect, responsibility and their place in the community... this is their Light!
For grades 4-8, the opportunity to join the National Honorary Beta Club will be available for students who meet the criteria for selection. Beta Club promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service & leadership among elementary and secondary students.

FAQ
Q. Does the completion of the registration form mean I'm accepted into the program?
A. No. Completing the registration form is an expression of your interest in enrollment and no fees are required at that time. As space allows and approval to join is granted, families will be notified of their acceptance and sent an invoice for their registration fee. Semester tuition invoices are due 2 weeks prior to the first day of class.
Q. Where is The Light held?
A. We meet at Palmetto Proper in downtown Travelers Rest (164 S Main Street, Suite B | Travelers Rest, SC 29690)
Q. What areas of study will be included?
A. Our focus is building from within to foster individuals who have a love for themselves, each other and the world around them. Each class will include a Bible study, book club, character development activities, life skills and relationship building. Many of our activities will involve and enhance the core subjects you are already teaching at home with hands-on, real world application to include components of health, science, art, language arts, social studies and math. Holiday parties, field trips, service projects and special events allow our children to not only meet and engage with a wide age range, but also to strengthen the relationships they've built in class.
Q. Is this a drop-off program or do I need to stay on-site?
A. Children should be dropped off for their 2 hour class.
Q. Is tuition for the entire year or the semester?
A. Tuition is paid per semester and due 2 weeks prior to the first day of class. Non-payment will result in loss of placement in the program.
Q. Do I have to volunteer?
A. We want The Light to not only be a time of growth for our students, but a time of respite for our parents as well. Volunteer hours are not required, however we would love to build community with you too! If you are interested in volunteering, please indicate your interest on the registration form.
